CARLOS "EL SKIN" ESTRADA
Carlos Alberto Estrada, better known as Carlos "el skin" is a mexican anarchist compañero, detained on 14th of May 2001 accused of a robbery. During his trayection to the Attorney of Justice (PGJ) he was beaten up and threatened of the Federal Police; this attitude continued in his interrogatory until the transport to the Social Re-adaption Center where he was sentenced for the following delicts:
* heavy robbery
* carriage of arms
* intent to kidnap
* intent to rape
* damages
During the trial the accusations of the Attorney Generalship were falling down because of a serie of incongruences which just demonstrate the political character of the trial.
a) the event was on 7th of April; Carlos was detained more than 1 month later (14th of May)
b) the detention was realized without order
c) the part of the accusation said to recognize him for his long hair..., although Carlos had for long years extrem short hair
d) they never spoke about his 3 supposed complices
e) for the action he' s accused he needed 3 hands...
f) Carlos has witnesses for the time of the robbery that he was in a centro social in the south of the city
Although there was the intent to demonstrate his innocence, the judge condemned him to 15 years and 6 month of prison, reparations and 6.000$. After an appeal the sentence was reduced to 12 years and 6 month of prison and 6.000 pesos mexicanos (400€). During the trial there were a lot of irregulations, like the fact that a woman came to his house some days before he was sentenced in 1st instance and offered that he could be liberated for about 5.000 pesos. Because of his mother' s desperation she cancelled and never again was anything known about this woman...
Our comrade only can ask for the pre-liberation to the executive judge, what means a conditional freedom in change of a correct conduct in the society. For that you can only ask once - if it will be denied, he has to wait in jail until the end of his sentence. In June we got the information that his case entered to the council to value and after that there will be the decision if Carlos can get free in December 2007.
From the collective Sacco y Vanzetti and from ABC Venezuela we appeal to the critical and solidarity senses of the readers that for once a time all people will help us to break the silence of the prisons and toast for Carlos a breath of freedom.
